TheDarkroomI remember something similiar from the "New Twilight Zone" from the 80's too. It was about a struggling Vietnam vet who wants to send his son to military school and buys him two sets of toy soldiers that eventually come alive. The episode that you're recalling isn't from the "New Twilight Zone", but rather from a very obscure (and very short-run) anthology series called "The Darkroom". In this series, host James Coburn sat in a photography darkroom, setting up the details of the story that you were about to see. As he spoke, he was busy moving an undeveloped photo from tray to tray of development chemicals. He would always hang the now-developing photo up on a drying line when he finished, and the audience would watch as the photo slowly became visible. This photo was always of the first scene of the story, and once it became fully visible, it would take motion, and the story would begin. I would love to find somewhere to purchase the Darkroom series or at the very least the episode about the toy soilders: Siege of 31 August. If anyone ever finds where to get it please let me know. I can be contacted at: (email address) Thanks. |
