Tent

      • "Obviously, if its raining rain will get in through mesh, as mesh isnt watdrproof. thankfully rei sells a six dollar coghlans' brand tube tent, which is a perfect compliment with this."
      • "It protects well from heavy rain blowing in under a tarp and adds a couple of extra degrees on chilly nights. The cost and weight make it almost make it silly not to have it. It does not breathe as well some higher end more costly fabrics but it serves its purpose well."
      • "The worst part is drying out the condensation every morning. As far as I can tell though, that is par for the course with bivy sacks - just the price you pay for being able to nimbly skip through the woods like the mountain elf that you are."
      • "As this is a hoopless design, you will have the mesh panel lying on your face. Not a big deal for me though, it only took one night to get used to that."
      • "I've found that if you encounter rain, the best thing to do is clasp the 'hood' and then roll the bivy on it's side, that way rain won't come in and you can breathe through the vent. It's actually pretty comfortable."
      • Protection from rain is what I'm after, no? I suppose for winter camping (no rain) this would be good.
  • Tyvek tarp?
  • Silnylon?
    • The important difference, I'd think, is that silnylon is waterproof, and Tyvek is not
