Algae
- Algae eventually gets the upper hand on us each year. To fix it once it has happened:
- Make sure the pH and Alkalinity are balanced to maximize chlorine's effectiveness
- Buy a 4lb bucket Coral Seas of Green to Clean, and be sure to have lots of liquid chlorine on-hand. Follow instructions, including shocking the pool afterwards.
- The color should turn blue.
- Brush often (brushing is fairly quick and painless)
- Run filter continuously
- Clean out the filter with a backwash cycle often
- Note: Green-to-clean devours the chlorine in the pool so it will need to be replaced.
- Add algaecide every week or so.

- I got the order wrong. I added a gallon or more of liquid chlorine to an already over-chlorinated pool. 12 hours later, I added 3+ lbs of Green to Clean. 12 hours later, the pool looked good and blue.

- Tablets should not be relied on exclusively. Eventually they release enough chlorine blockers to require the pool be drained & refilled.
