- Vision surf eels - recommended twice by good fishermen
- Put teaser on a dropper loop, it's really nice that way
- IBSP
- look for markings left by fishermen to id structure
- look for clams washed up on the shore. When you see pieces of small crabs (quarter-diameter bodies and claws), definitely start fishing.
- All of the bites, fish, etc. that we saw occurred in the hour or so after high tide. It seemed that all the reports we heard were from successes roughly during this critical time.
- Conditions
- Full moon and new moon means higher high tide, lower low tide. This could mean more current, and more fish.
- If nothing else, plan to visit near a full or new moon. If high tide occurs around sunset, then that is even better. After that, weather conditions will have a major impact.
- For the fall migration, this year, October 23 might have been a bit early for IBSP. It sounds like the run is starting slowly now, and will be active at least through November.
- There is also a spring migration (april?)
- Bluefish in late summer (?)
- Don't forget to plan some fishing during the spring run on the Hudson!
- How to get the bait out farther:
- Southeast Florida and we paddled the bait out about 200yds.
- Aha! That's one way to do it with a rod that can't cast at all
