Ubuntu 11.10

• The printer drivers were built-in, but it was a little wacky installing them.
  • Settings-Printing->Add
  • LPD, enter ip address and make up a queue name
  • It starts auto searching for a driver. Give it a few seconds, then cancel. It should bring up a window where you can select the driver. (If not, close/kill everything and start over - I saw windows lock up on me a few times). The exact driver was in the Brother list

• System->Administration->Printing
• New Printer
• LPD/LPR Host or Printer
• 192.168.2.190
• Brother HL-2070N
• when choosing a printer model, don't choose any of the options. instead, there's a place for you to set up using a PPD driver, and browse to /usr/share/cups/model/HL2070N.ppd
• configure the Printer options, switch from A4 to letter.
• print test page, and it worked for me!
